How does Therapy enhance growth?
Therapy offers individuals a safe space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and challenges. It helps people develop coping mechanisms, enhance self-awareness, and work through past traumas or current struggles in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Therapy provides valuable tools for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, while also fostering personal growth and resilience. By addressing underlying issues and promoting positive behavioral changes, therapy can empower individuals to lead more fulfilling and balanced lives. Therapy is for everyone, anyone can benefit.
Trauma as our specialty
Introspect focuses on the treatment of trauma as our speciality. Our providers have advanced training (or are receiving) to ensure they are able to treat trauma effectively. Trauma can have profound effects on both the mind and the body, often manifesting as physical symptoms long after the emotional pain has occurred. When we experience trauma, our bodies go into a fight-or-flight response, releasing stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which can cause rapid heart rate, shallow breathing, and muscle tension. Over time, these stress responses can lead to chronic health issues such as headaches, digestive problems, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. The body can also store trauma, making individuals more prone to physical pain, tension, and even autoimmune conditions. Additionally, trauma can alter brain function, affecting memory, focus, and emotional regulation, further influencing physical health. Healing from trauma involves not just emotional processing but also addressing the physical manifestations in the body, helping individuals restore balance and well-being. Which is also why we focus on the addition of healing our bodies through wellness at Introspect.
Introspect offers individual, family and couples therapy. We treat ages 7+. While we consider trauma our primary focus we treat several other conditions, considering ourselves also generalist practice. What can I expect from therapy?
It is common to be unsure of what to expect when coming to therapy for the first time. When you first meet with your therapist an assessment is complete that examines your needs, history, symptoms and social supports. The session will be aimed on understanding who you are and what you are looking for, and what your goals are. Once this is complete the exploration of thoughts, feelings, behavior become the forefront of sessions. We work with building life skills, coping mechanisms, addressing unconscious relationships patterns, and potentially, family history and its influences. Therapy isn’t for “mentally ill” people, its for people who want to feel better and sometimes in life we just dont feel very good.
